Baked to keyframes

Why use it

Once your rig is mapped (shape keys or bones), offline video is the most controlled way to bring a performance in — better lighting, multiple takes, and a result you can hand-edit as F-curves afterward.

Steps in Blender

  1. 1Open panel 8, "Video", and click Analyse Video, then pick your video file.
  2. 2Click Export & Load to bring the analysed data into Blender.
  3. 3Optional: Show Tracked Overlay to check tracking accuracy, or Setup Head Tracking for camera matchmove.
  4. 4Run Auto-Detect Mapping (panel 3, shape keys) and/or Auto-Detect / Map Head (panels 5/6, if using an armature) if you haven't already.
  5. 5If using bones, click Solve Bones from Video.
  6. 6Click Bake to Keyframes to convert the performance into editable F-curves.
