Why use it
Live capture isn't always practical — better lighting, multiple takes, or footage shot separately from your Blender session. Offline video lets you analyse a video file after the fact, auto-map it to your rig, and bake straight to F-curves you can hand-edit like any other animation.
Steps in Blender
- 1Open the Video panel (panel 8) in the Face Addon sidebar tab.
- 2Click Analyse Video and pick your video file.
- 3Click Export & Load to bring the analysed data into Blender.
- 4Optional: enable Show Tracked Overlay to visually check tracking accuracy, or Setup Head Tracking for camera matchmove.
- 5Run Auto-Detect Mapping (shape keys) and/or Auto-Detect / Map Head (bones) if you haven't already mapped your rig.
- 6If using bones, click Solve Bones from Video.
- 7Click Bake to Keyframes to convert the performance into editable F-curves.
