Auto-Detect Mapping

Automatically correlate tracked landmarks to your rig's shape keys or bones.

Why use it

Manually assigning dozens of tracked facial landmarks to individual shape keys or bones is tedious and error-prone. Auto-Detect Mapping builds that correspondence automatically, with manual override for anything it gets wrong and a Diagnose Mapping tool for when the result doesn't quite fit.

Steps in Blender

  1. 1Make sure landmarks are placed first (Auto-Place Landmarks in the Landmarks panel).
  2. 2For shape-key rigs: open panel 3, "Shape Key Mapping", and click Auto-Detect Mapping.
  3. 3For armature rigs: open panel 5, "Fallback Bone Mapping", and click Auto-Detect.
  4. 4Adjust Amplify if the resulting motion is too subtle or too strong.
  5. 5If something looks off, use Diagnose Mapping to see why, then fix it with manual overrides.
  6. 6Save Preset so you can Load Preset next time on a similar rig.
