Why use it

If the performer or camera moves during a take, the character needs to move with the world, not just the face. Matchmove sets up camera tracking alongside facial capture, with live camera selection and an on-screen overlay of tracked landmarks so you can verify accuracy before committing to a take.

Steps in Blender

  1. 1Open the Video panel (for offline footage) or the Live panel (for a live camera feed).
  2. 2Click Setup Head Tracking to set up the camera matchmove.
  3. 3Enable Show Tracked Overlay to visually check landmark tracking accuracy on screen.
  4. 4Adjust camera selection live if you're working from a webcam or phone feed — click refresh if your camera isn't listed.
