Auto-Place Landmarks

Build the dense correspondence map everything else depends on.

Landmarks auto-placed
Exclude/clear stray points

Why use it

Hair, pinning, and identity fitting all need to know which point on the tracked face corresponds to which point on your mesh. Auto-Place Landmarks builds that map automatically in one click, with exclude/clear tools for cleanup when a point lands somewhere odd (an earring, stray geometry, etc.).

Steps in Blender

  1. 1Select your character mesh.
  2. 2Open panel 1, "Landmarks", in the Face Addon sidebar tab.
  3. 3Click Auto-Place Landmarks — this is the step everything downstream (hair, pinning, Fit Identity) depends on.
  4. 4Clean up if needed: Exclude Selected to drop bad points, Clear to remove all and start over.
  5. 5For fine manual nudging: Edit Green Dots → move points → Apply Pins → Clear All Green Dots when done.
